June 19th, 2006 Introduction of the Project "1000 Young Leaders"
The training project of 1000 young leaders under the auspices of the president of Serbia Mr Boris Tadić is implemented by People's Office of the President of Serbia with the help of " Dr Zoran Đinđić" Foundation. Introducing the "1000 Young Leaders" the director of People's Office of the President of Serbia Mr Dragan Đilas said that the goal of this Project was to help all talented people to become leaders in all spheres of man's activity. We are all responsible, according to Mr Đilas' words, to complete the Project "1000 Young Leaders" which was initiated by the assassinated Zoran Đinđić.
"A leader in Serbia is not just a good pupil or student, but the one who is ready to invest in his country and the one who is willing to change something. He or she is ready to advance not only in the field of science and agriculture but also in culture and sports", Mr Đilas said.
The president of the Administrative Board of "Dr Zoran Đinđić" Foundation Ružica Đinđić said that the goal of the Project "1000 Young Leaders" was to realize Serbia as a modern and democratic society. "In the name of "Dr Zoran Đinđić" Foundation I can say that it will be a great honour to encourage the idea of democratization of our society with the president of Serbia and People's Office of the President of Serbia, ministries and organizations.
Zoran Đinđić was also devoted to that idea ", Ružica Đinđić said. She invited young people, if they have good results at work, in school, on faculty and if they are ready to take the initiative, to apply and take part in the Project.
The resigned Minister of Agriculture Ivana Dulić- Marković said that Serbia needed people who would show that something could be done without finding 1000 excuses why it could not be done.
"1000 Young Leaders" Project includes participation in educational seminars about strategic planning and creating projects, and also the basis of leadership.
The participants will take part in creating actual projects in cooperation with selected mentors within different fields (agriculture, economy, public administration, science, culture, local self-management, media). In the course of the Project there will be a competition for the best project which will be presented by the president of Serbia. At the end of every cycle the best candidates will have the opportunity to gain experience in institutions, organizations and companies in this country and abroad.
Target group will be young people from age 21 to 35 who achieved prominent results during their studies, began professional engagement in places which require leadership abilities and knowledge or they proved themselves in their professional field.
