The aim of the “1000 Young leaders of Serbia” programme is to invest in human potential by elevating the capacities and promoting leadership potentials and activities of young people, who wish to contribute to the democratic, economic and cultural development of Serbia.
The methodology of the programme involves the development of the leadership capacities of young people and training them for a systematic approach to solving different problems through networking with the institutions of the system and companies.
The programme activities include taking part in educational seminars on strategic planning, the writing of projects, and the basics of leadership.
The participants in the programme, in cooperation with selected mentors in the domains of the given problem circles (agriculture, industry, science, culture, local government, media …) and in cooperation with the institutions of the system and/or companies, will work on the specific project of importance for society, in the aforesaid domains. The most successful initiatives and individuals, as well as the institutions and companies involved in the project will receive public promotion. Thus, young leaders will have the chance to create links with the relevant institutions/ companies and experts, and their projects, if they are good enough, will also be implemented.
Every six months a competition will be organized for the best project, which will also be promoted by the president of Serbia.
At the end of each cycle, the best candidates will have the opportunity to do their internship in Serbia institutions and in foreign and Serbian organizations and companies, both at home and abroad, those individuals who distinguish themselves as outstanding, will also be sent to foreign universities, on study tours.
The programme will unfold in several cycles, depending on the target sub-groups. The target group will consist of young people, who are between 21 and 35 years of age. The target sub-groups consist of young people, who have shown remarkable results during their studies, are beginning their professional careers in positions that require leadership skills and knowledge, have accomplished impressive and measurable results in their professional field work, have made a contribution to their broader social environment, are prepared to make a contribution through their work and the development of their career to the development of Serbia, and lead her more swiftly towards European integration.
